Food Pantries and Soup Kitchens in San Francisco

Approximately 200 agencies visit the warehouse weekly to select fresh produce and packaged products for their meal programs or food pantries. In addition, the Food Bank provides direct service programs to its member agencies. These programs include:
  • Emergency Food Box - it is only one box per year and provides a nutritionally balanced 3-day emergency food supply to families and individuals in crisis. Check with your case manager.
  • Brown Bag- supplies bi-weekly bags of groceries to elderly men and women with monthly incomes of less than $719. To sign-up call Helplink 415-808-4357
  • C.A.R.E. - distributes food boxes of specially selected foods rich in nutrients to persons with HIV not yet registered with an AIDS service provider.
  • A Full Plate - offers long-term food assistance and nutrition counseling to families in transition from a residential program to their own apartment.
  • Partners in Need - offers low-income volunteers a supply of produce and packaged food in exchange for their work.
  • Disaster Relief - provides food assistance to low-income neighborhoods in the event of a major earthquake or disaster
